I get 2 bizarre letters from them today - one is indicating how long various things stay on your report - BK, etc. Wonderful, fine and dandy. I don't understand why they sent it to me. Was so mad about the next thing I forgot to ask about this.

Anyway, the other letter I get has the names and addresses of the inquiry disputes I made. Looks to me like they are not gonna investigate them - that now it's my job.

So I call. I am specifically told that TU WILL NOT investigate any inquiry, so that's why they gave me the names and addresses so I could dispute them.

So does this mean I have to write each place and ask them their 'permissable purpose' for pulling my report and then ask them to remove the inquiry from such report?

Now, if I've gotta go through this bullcrap, does it make sense to use a variation of Christy's letter - explain your purpse or pay up -?? Or do I have any options with TU?

Why don't you just send them back a letter containing this and highlight the "any item of information" section.

    § 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]

    (a) Reinvestigations of disputed information.

    (1) Reinvestigation required.

    (A) In general. If the completeness or accuracy of any item of information contained in a consumer's file at a consumer reporting agency is disputed by the consumer and the consumer notifies the agency directly of such dispute, the agency shall reinvestigate free of charge and record the current status of the disputed information, or delete the item from the file in accordance with paragraph (5), before the end of the 30-day period beginning on the date on which the agency receives the notice of the dispute from the consumer.

Now I feel silly for posting. =-(

Reminder to self: SEARCH! than Post! <g>

I just kept disputing with them and finally got some off. I think I just got the right person. I disputed with both the bureau and each individual creditor, using Christy's letter. It's been too soon to see if any results will come from it, but I am hoping it works.

so far they have deleted most of my inquiries without issue. I did get a werid letter stating that the credit grantors did not need my signature for it [inquiry] to be a permissable.

I am waiting on baited breath for them not to remove those inquiries. ... because I am itching to sue a CRA TU is my worst report so why not them?
This last dispute will turn the tide one way or another.

    i am damn near 700 on EXQ & EXP.....with a freaking 475 on TU!

They have 20 more days before it is on!

I got the same letter... two days later all the inquiries that I disputed disappeared. Then, all my inquiries disappeared. I have refinanced twice and bought a new car so there were over 30 inquiries total. Now I only have two from a couple of recent apps.
    Don't give up.
