TU won't verify-We KNOW U used Lex!

I signed up with Lexington Law Firm in mid-April. By the first of May I had already decided that not only could I do a faster job myself, but I could do a better one.

I canceled. I fought with them via email for a couple of weeks and got a full refund.

About two weeks after they said they had sent out my disputes, I was sent a letter from TU that said, "We received a dispute regarding your credit report from a credit repair agency....For this reason we will not take action on the dispute submitted from the credit repair agency."

Notice, they didn't SUSPECT, they KNEW. I wonder how?

I believe that they can't refuse a valid dispute that they are admitting was submitted on my behalf and by my permission because it was prepared by a third-party. I intend to wait until they have failed to verify and then demand deletion or take further steps.

Has anyone seen this letter before? Do you agree with my theory. What do you think I should do next?

    Thanks, George! Absolutely on point!

But I still wonder if I'm not better off just waiting until my 30 days are up. I've only got about a week left....

    Hi,
The exact same thing happened to me. I got replies from the other two, but TU sent me two letters saying they were ignoring the disputes. Lex Law said TU was notorious for this. I am like you, I cancelled Lex Law and am doing it on my own. At least I know its me and can prove it to TU if it gets to that point.
I havent gotten a refund though......

I agree with you, George. It seems to me that the question is whether TU refuse to investigate because you used a third-party to file the dispute? I *think* the answer is no and they are therefore in violation.

I don't think you have to refute their claim. You just have to act on the fact that they believe you filed a dispute and they ignored it.

    Violation.

    The question is . . .

How can they ignore a dispute filed on your behalf by a bonafide attorney?

And since they ARE a law firm, you would think that Lexington would be sticking it to them in court on their own hook.

Could you imagine, say a fender bender where the other driver gets a letter from your attorney and says they won't deal with him/her. . .they'll only talk to you? What's up with this??

    Yep.

That's why I said it's a violation and if that's what they want to do then it's fine by me. I'll take the deletion AND the cash, thank you.

As for Lex, they have their place, but my opinion of them diminishes by the week. They are not going to contact TU. No way. They are not THAT kind of law firm. They are only going to advocate for you in a way that allows them to make a profit on that $34.95 a month they charge.

    Salesbiz,

Did Lex tell you what to do about the letter? They told me it was a stall tactic, but they didn't tell me what to do. Then again, I fired them in less than a month and got a full refund...

I suspect they just send out new slightly different letters the next month and just dispute again.

They can ignore them but they can't ignore you and your lawsuit.
