Since it is close to THAT time of the year - April 15 - I was going to go to Staples this afternoon and buy TURBO TAX - both State and Fed - about $40 total after mail-in rebates. I went to www.turbotax.com Then I saw I could do TURBO TAX online, then either file electronically or print the returns, then mail them via US Post Office. It costs about the same - $42.00 for my Federal 1040, deduction forms, and several others. EVERYBODY! This is the best TAX program I have ever used! ALL you do is answer questions, and it doesn't even show you a return with complicated forms until the end when you print. You cannot file until TURBO TAX reviews everything and assures no errors; You can file immediately for a REFUND; You can file or delay filing for later - say April 15 if you owe money. You can file for an automatic extention. You can set up an automatic payment plan if you need to. You can pay by credit card - I started to do that, then saw it would have cost a fee of about $80 (2.xx%) to click pay by AMEX, Visa or MC. The program certainly asked and found deductions I would not have known about - with no hassle! Again, its just a series of questions - then it takes a look at your last year's return as well. I printed the forms, signed them, then mailed my returns/checks. The whole process, including putting the stamp on the envelope, took about 2 hours in my case. The best thing is this program looks at your numbers as it asks the questions - then it will find the BEST solutions. Everything done - no hassle - printed copies in files. I bet it will take longer for response from the system the closer it gets to April 15. I do not know why anyone would even hassle driving to a store to buy these TURBO programs - when everything online works so well! This TURBO TAX online program takes all the hassle and wait out of filing income tax returns. Best regards - Dogman
Dogman et.al. I've been using TURBO TAX online for the past 3 years, and I DEFINATELY agree with you. It's the simplest thing I've ever used. My taxes are very simple, and if that's the case the questions get daunting. But, I've worked in taxation in the past, and these guys cover everything!! Completely recommended. DB
Last year I used the online version and this year I used the cd-rom version. The biggest difference is that with the cd you get additional tips and pulling info if you have a question. Finally knocked off the return this weekend, got my DCN number in 24 hours. Also did my state via my state's online filing system. So check to see if your state offers this service.
