TUscore 688; Ready for prime card ?

    I would like to apply for a prime card if you all think my 688 TU score will suffice. I am recently self-employed so I'd prefer a card that is score driven only.

    Experian 652
    Equifax 663

    I realize that my other scores be too low. But will my TU 688 get me a prime card?

    I now currently hold Providian (23.99%)
    (3) First Premier cards, one at (13.99) and the other at (18.99%)

    How's the history on your current cards?

    Any derogs?

    yes it will get you a prime card if you dont have derogs. look at "who pulled what cra" to find out which one to apply for. i think us bank is tu score driven.

    So are household cards. Your score is good enough for prime cards, but should be clear of any major derogs.

    I have two derogs from Providian (both are from April 2001) both cards are 3 years old.

    I still have one of the Providian w/ $3300.00. I have a 600.00 balance

    Two of the First Premiers are 4 1/2 years old- no lates

    One of the First Premiers is 3 years old-no lates

    No bankruptcy.

    Two student loans show more than 90 day lates ( I have an arrangement with them but they are not reporting yet).

    Two revolving accounts-$400 balance (was $1200) never late.

    Shell card- two years old- never late.

    Mortgage- three years old-never late.

    Not much I can about the student loans

    chase seems to pull tu almost always. the only luck you will have is if the student loans arent reporting on one cra as late. you should wait to apply until they arent showing late. otherwise you will probably just get a subprime counteroffer.

    If you have derogs (and decent sized ones), your score is not good at all.

    Chase will slap you down most likely. Wife had a 700 TU with a couple baddies and was denied by Chase. Even SHELL!!!!

    To my knowledge, there is no such thing as a "score" only driven card. When you apply, your score along with # of positive accounts, # of negative accounts and any special info the OC wants is instantly transmitted. All these items make up your application "score".

    It would be better to have a 620 with no derogs than a 720 with derogs.

    Thanks. I have a shell gas card (which I forgot to list and which have no derogs). But, alas, not a mc or visa. I appreciate the info and will wat until I get rid of the derogs.
