I just recieved my UDF on a collection account. I had an agreement with the CA to delete the account. However, I recieve the UDF throught the fax and it has three boxes. New, Change, and delete. Well my UDF has changed marked. At the bottom it says to update account as paid in full and says something about delete or change. There is is circled delete. I called the CA back and demanded that the UDF be marked with delete rather than change. I get the exact fax back with the change marked out and delete marked and circled. Will equifax accept this. If he did his job, it will be sent again to equifax. If not can I send the UDF myself? Will they think that I marked the account instead of the CA? In other words think its a phony?
Check to see if there is a subscriber#, sometimes they write this in. You can fax it to the credit bureaus yourself. Asset acceptance didn't put their subscriber# on the udf for exp and equ but they did for TU and then wrote in the cover letter that they will contact the CRAs for me. I faxed it in myself and it was deleted in about 2 days for experian, 3-4 weeks equifax and TU had already deleted. Fax it yourself and maintain confirmation of the fax. Some people have had problems with the CRAs not deleting even after receiving the udf.
Have the CA prepare a new UDF for you. Make sure it is clearly marked delete with no reference to the account being 'paid'. The CRA may not delete if you submit evidence that it is a paid account. Reported in error or cancelled would be a better reason for the deletion. EQ will not accept the UDF if there is no subscriber number. They will accept a letter from the CA however requesting deletion without a subscriber number. Yesterday I convinced EQ to accept a UDF without a subscriber number by arguing it contained all of the elements they wanted in a letter ( signature, date, company letterhead, reason for deletion, etc. ) but I had to argue the point with a supervisor. It was difficult even though the collection manager was willing to explain to them on the phone the entry was an error. BTW, EQ had 'verified' the account the day prior. The CA told me they had not been contacted. They are real a$#@^$#@ at EQ.
