I just received the auto notification from Experian online. Sherman has verified all my discharged Chap 13 accounts they bought from the original creditors and re-aged (find anything LEGAL in any of that). On to the next step!! Looks like it's not going to be such an easy battle with them after all
I am expecting this to be a hassle - but again attorney and LAW does not let them do this - buy of course they will be dogs to remove the stuff willingly. later - I'll watch this. best regards - dogman
I would go straight to your state atty general. This may be some sort of fraud. Creditors may not sell bk discharged debts. Have the atty general and whoever else you can think of go after them. This what the bk laws are supposed to protect you from. In addition, I'll bet you could find a lawyer that would take a case like this on contingency and sue the pants off these schmucks. Don't let them pull this crap. Go after them hard.
Do you have any old reports showing these items as discharged in bk? If so, copies to the cra's with a properly worded letter should get these removed.
LKH has an excellent point about some sort of fraud occuring. I could see 1 account being lumped in with a ton of other chargeoffs by accident. But many accounts from different creditors being purchased is too much of a stretch.
On their webpage, Sherman Acquisitions advertises that they purchase "distressed debt" such as bk'd debt. I was kind of floored when I read that - how can they do that legally?
Both 7 and 13!! Last paragraph on this page. http://www.shermfin.com Incredible!! How can they do this??????
