Umbrella Bank BDD Results

    I posted last week about a possible Umbrella Bank BDD. Last March I was approved with a soft inquiry for an Umbrella Bank Platinum Visa when I applied for a checking account. Several days ago when I went to add a savings account I was approved for the classic Visa but I wasn't sure if they were going to actually send me the second card. Today when I check my account online, the classic Visa is showing.

    It looks like this is a real "BDD" style opportunity.

    Okay, this is getting weird. For the hell of it I applied for a basic intrest checking account with Umbrella and was also offered $1,000 overdraft and a $5,000 Platinum Visa.

    I am going to wait to call to combine the Classic I got last week until I see what they are going to do with this second Platinum card.

    I know you've probably told us already, but what is your score with EX?

    ....Thinking of applying with Umbrella Bank.

    As of today my CE score is 721. It was 712 (I think)when I applied a week and a half ago and I was approved for a $2,000 classic card. I've had one more Experian deletion this week (the FMCC repo!) that raised my score.

    I decided I didn't want to explain three accounts to their customer service, so I am on the phone now with Umbrella to see if I can combine my classic and platinum cards.

    The CSR seems confused and has me on hold...

    It looks like Umbrella must outsource their customer service. The person I have on the phone wants to submit a request to the bank to raise the limit on my Platinum card by $2,000 and then close the classic account. She's still confused though and put me back on hold.

    DUUUUHHHHH

    You take the credit limit from the "classic" card and add it to the "platinum card...then you close the "classic" card...ALL DONE!!!

    Interesting! When the CSR came back on the phone she told me that "the bank is not accepting any requests for limit increases at this time" and told me to check back at another time to see if they change their policy.

    I asked if this was just for my account for some reason or a blanket policy and she said they are not accepting limit increase requests from anyone.

    I just double-checked my reports and there are no new soft or hard inquiries so I think she might be telling the truth.

    Looks like I am going to have two $5,000 Platinum accounts and one $2,000 classic. I may close the classic.

    You may have to ask for a SUPERVISOR in the NEW ACCOUNTS dept.
