Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Hello Rose, I am sorry to hear that they decline you for the visa and try to give you the overdraft protection... is very expensive is $25 and an apr of 21.6% wow to me that is like having a dept store card... anyways the approval screens saids that I was approve for their platinum visa as well.... I have yet to find out any account for me as of today the application was approve on the 19th of Mar.... they are taking forever on the address verification... I have to fax them more than 3 times so far.... still heard nothing yet... well I will post as soon as I hear something or if anyone else have gotten their visa please post.. Thx, Kev
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read kev, They didn't decline me. They said I declined the offer, by not choosing it. I knew that I did, but did not argue the point with them and was glad that I didn't have it after all of my troubles.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Hello Rose, I am sorry I mis understood you..... okay yeah they pull the same thing on me too they said that they did'nt see that I accepted the visa card... and further more they told me that they have no way of checking it and that I have to call the credit card customer service to find out... well at this point I already put away the debit card and checks from them.... I lost hope for them.... Thank goodness I only send them a $100.... Thx, Kev
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read well if this happens to more people (save the printscreen) then this could be construed as bait and switch, and lawsuits or at least punishment should be handed down to the company. I would at least collect evidence to file against the BBB and credit regulatory agencies.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Hey Sam, Yeah I did print out the approved screen but there is no customer name or account no or any approval or reference no on it... is a generic screen there are no indications of what date it was approve all it saids you are approve and now you can select you funding and just click I accept on the additonal products approve for and there is no submit button anywhere on that page and I even call and talk to a rep before I close the webpage the rep just saids oh yeah just hit the I accept and then just close down the webpage and then send in your deposit to us... well I am waiting to see what other people are getting that apply with them.... Thanks for helping me out.... Thx, Kev
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Well I am holding off on sending them my $100. I bet a dime to a dozen doughnuts that in about 3 months my Classic card shows up. Until I hear some positive feedback with someone actually getting everything they asked for, they can sit and spin.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Okay, here's my experience. When I opened my account, I got the offer for OD protection and also for the Platinum Visa. I reject OD: I already have it with my "brick and mortar" bank. However, I accept the Visa card. Get the welcome package 2 days later. Plus I keep getting signature cards (four to be exact). When I get the letter with my user name and password, I login and find, lo and behold, I have four checking accounts with this bank. I call to find out what's up and am told that I applied for four checking accounts and declined both the OD and the Visa card. When I say you are mistaken, I am told that I can apply for the credit card -- they'll send an application. When I say that I have no interest in reapplying for a credit card for which I was already approved, I'm put on hold for about five minutes. The CS agent comes back on the line and says yes, he can see that I was approved but the corporate office will have to decide if they will be able to honor the offer without reapplying. We'll see what happens.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read I phone customer service once more and was told the same thing: a hard inquiry is required for the savings and checking account. Maybe they changed their policy??
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Maybe they're confused as to the difference between a hard and soft inquiry?? I called and have been approved for everything and there's no hard inquiry on my report.... this is seriously weird! Ozzy.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read I went to the trouble of talking to the customer support for you guys, Here is a quick and professional response umbrellabank has emailed me. I have to say their response was quick and courteous, and i rescind any "bait-and-switch" words, maybe i was too rash: 1. The debate on soft or hard inquiry: Both answers are both right. If you are cross-sold the card while applying for a deposit account, then it is a soft inquiry. If you apply directly for a credit card it is a hard inquiry. Both of these are fully disclosed on the site or paper applications. We worked with our vendor to get the soft inquiry implemented as a customer service. 2. There is ZERO bait-and-switch going on: If the customer does not "check" that they want an item to be cross-sold and read the corresponding disclosure, they will not receive the card or overdraft protection. I was involved in the particular case mentioned and it is in the process of being corrected (cards are in the mail). We struggled with displaying the cross-sells before the Signature Card. The interaction between these two pages leads to the confusion. If the customer reviews the results page, selects the appropriate cross-sells, and selects a funding option, then the pre-filled Signature Card is presented and the accepted cross-sells are uploaded into the system. If the customer does not select the funding option, then the cross-sells are not uploaded and they have to look elsewhere to get a Signature Card to open the originally targeted account. 3. Regarding ATM usage we, like most other banks, start all customers with a $500.00 per day cash and point of sale limit on their debit or ATM cards. This can be increased for a one-off preplanned event or after a decent amount of account history. 4. More conservative? Yes: In terms of address, phone, and name verification, we do indeed ask for additional offline documentation if what is supplied on the application does not match what we receive from the credit report, debit report, and other third party data. We do not have the luxury of face-to-face interaction as a fraud protection tool. We are forced to rely on what we have and what the customer provides. You are welcome to post this reply on the forum if you choose to do so. If you have any specific questions as a potential customer, I'd be glad to address them. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail us at custservice@umbrellabank.com or call us at 1-866-UMBRELLA. Sincerely, John Koryl Customer Service UmbrellaBank, fsb
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Hello Sam, Thank You for taking your time out for us in talking to customer service... I sincerely appreicate it... I guess with the friendly and sincere letter from the customer service rep explains the whole info in applying for an account with them... I guess that after in seeing the post from you I have a better understanding with their process... I will give them more time and encourage others to do the same... maybe they are very backlog with the request and it just takes a little longer than usual... I will post again as soon as I get everything from them.... Thanks again Sam you are the BEST! Thx, Kev
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Sam - thanks for taking the time to write them and post the results of your email. Seems like they're very customer friendly... Ozzy.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Today when I log on to my account I see my checking (with an extra $1,000 available balance that represents my overdraft protection) and my Platinum Visa: Credit Card Accounts Account Description Account Number Last Update Current Balance Available Credit Platinum VISA 4xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 03/26/2002@23:59CT $ 0.00 $ 5000.00 Looks like it all worked out ok. Still only a soft inquiry.
Re: Umbrella Bank Alert Please Read Okay, I just logged in and see that I now have three checking accounts -- one with OD protection. However, no Visa is showing yet. I'll call tomorrow and let y'all know.
