Bank of America and Wells Fargo pulled a Hard Inquiry on my report. I have sent both a letter to provide proof of why they pulled a report. Both have sent back a letter stating they can not look further into it without a copy of my credit report. I have since sent back a letter stating that it is not up to me to prove anything, and to provide the information or delete. I have again received a letter from them stating they want a copy of my report. I have already provided my SS#, date pulled, and my last name since I was married. They still won't look further into it without a copy of the report. What do you suggest? Should I quote law and advise they have 15 days to reply or to just send me a check? I will be signing papers to start the purchasing process of a house this weekend and need to get these off my report. Besides, I didn't apply for bank credit of any kind.
Should've told asked them why they needed a copy of your report, they already had one. You could always send them a copy of your report with all the account info blacked out, or just the inquiries section to prove to them they did indeed pull it. My guess is they are fishing for anything to say they had a permissable purpose. Gib
Thank you, Bank of America's excuse is they need to know what office pulled my report. Funny, I received the address from the CRA to send the letter in the first place. The address they have is the address that was reported when the report was pulled. I will go ahead and do what you are suggesting as well mention they should not be asking for a report if they had pulled one in the first place. (thanks!) and see what they say. If they do not have a valid reason does anyone have a good sample of "you violated and send a check"?
Enclosed is a copy of my credit report. You do understand you had NO "PERMISSABLE PURPOSE" to pull my credit report, and violated the law, I can just file in SMALL CLAIMS COURT and get NO LESS THAN $1,000 from you. To save us both the hassle of SMALL CLAIMS COURT, just make arangements to send me a CASHIER'S CHECK IN THE AMOUNT OF $500 WITH-IN 7 DAYS AND REMOVE THE INQUIRY.
