    No, that's why I'm curious.

I know a LOT of Orchard and Fingerhut telemarketers have called lately but I've refused to buy. I hope this is not related. I've gotten at least six calls from each a day, sometimes 10 or more.

    It's related!!

All they have to do is hit the right key on their computer and it puts a "sale" through. If there aren't enough quality controls in place in that particular call center, it happens.

Dispute the charge with Orchard (in writing Cert-RRR), and send the magazine a letter (Cert, RRR) stating that although you were telemarketed for this, you declined the offer, please credit your account for their charge or you will pursue other avenues to have the charge taken off.

If they come back saying that you did accept it, ask for proof.

This should not be hard to get off, because most CCC's are being sued like crazy over these kinds of telemarketing tactics.

When they telemarket like this and say they just want to verify your information, if you don't want the product, hang up, don't verify anything. If they claim to be your card company, tell them you will be happy to contact the card company yourself, thanks anyway - hang up. It is a tricky way of getting the information they need to put a sale through. They claim that if you "gave" them the information, you were buying.
