Uncertain times we are in right now. I have been seeing where Amex has gone bananas whacking credit limits left & right. I am really glad right now that I don't have one. Never even applied, I have an old BK so I figured why waste a inquiry on a definite no? Chase took over Wamu, I have a Wamu CC, I never could get a Chase CC because I BK'd them in 2002 but they bought my mortgage. Now I am just waiting to see what happens when they get around to looking at the Wamu CC holders. It would be my largest limit. I have been holding off inquiring about CLI's with anyone & I am definitely not apping for any new credit at all until the economy straightens out a little. Don't want to give any a reason to CLD me. I can certainly live without credit, I used to be cash only. I would just hate to lose what I have worked so hard on my credit for. Guess we will see. Think I am ready to start hitting baddies again on my report, I got so burned out before that I had to take a break. Credit repair is hard work. No real purpose to this post just speculation as to what surprises lie ahead for all of us. Tegleg
I have a WAMU and old CO from Chase, and now am wondering what will happen as well. I can tell you that I was amazed that BoA lowered my credit line without even telling me, (never late never over) and had t fo rover 15 years. Sears, I never use hardly but had a 4K limit and they slashed it to 400! Funny as my credit is SO much better than it has been in 6 years! I was as low as 500 and now I am in mid 700's and hopefully will get higher . I have a feeling though that Chase will cancel my WAMU CC. Woofer
I am in the same boat with Wamu/Chase. Back in 2004 I burned Chase to the tune of $15,000 on two cards in my bankruptcy. After which I received two Wamu cards. These Wamu cards each have a limit of $2500. I suppose that once Wamu's and Chase's computer systems get married Chase will probably lower limits,or cancel my Wamu cards altogether.
Everything is up in the air right now. Bank of America is closing accounts left and right. Even Citibank is slashing lines. Amex, let's not even go there. It is virtually impossible to get approved through them at this point.
I wonder what's going to happen to all the old Providian accounts. Most of them should be at / near the SOL now, since WaMu purchased them in 2005. But every time a company is purchased / sold, there's a chance of records being "lost".
