I am new to the site, and like most I have a problem with a creditor/past debt.

I was informed that I was being sued by Unifund for a providian credit card account for $2167.00. I attempted to contact the court to verify the legitamacy of this lawsuit, but I had no luck.
On 07/10/06 I when to the court, and obtained a copy of a summons, and proof of being served. The proof of serving states that I was served on 06/01/06but,I was never served; and it was served to the wrong address. I then contacted an attorney because I had no idea was to do. Upon talking to the paralegal today, I was informed that a judgement default was filed against me on 07/10/06.
The summons states that this action was taken against me for an unpaid debt of $1321.00 from 07/12/02.
My question is do I have any recourse? Also, I found a credit report from 2003, that showed that I stop making payments on this account 09/01. Can you please give me some advise.

File a motion to vacate the judgement because you were not served.

Have you "contacted" an attorney, or HIRED an attorney?

What do you mean when you say:
If you don't know how to vacate the judgment yourself, you might want to actually hire the attorney.
