Does anyone know what they pull and what scores are needed to get a card? Lets rock them next month!!
I know the pulled Experian as a PRM inq. They sent me a preapproved offer that really was preapproved. I sent the card in, no report was pulled, and they sent me the card with a $2000 limit and an offer to upgrade to the VIP Plat.
I got a "PRE-APPROVED" for UNION 76 but I trashed it because I'm not going to have a card that I can ONLY USE IN CA when I'm "HOME" for a total of maybe 30-60 days per year!!! Besides, I like SHELL and TEXACO gas better... ...and SHELL was ~$0.10 cheaper than UNION 76...may vary from city to city...but that is the way it was in WHITTIER...
Don't see any CIRCLE-K around...but I went to their web site and found out they are tied to CONOCO/PHILLIPS66, I have those on every corner in CO...
About 3 weeks ago, I applied for a Union 76 gas card on-line at 76.com At the time, I wasn't told if I was approved or not. I have a BK discharged 10/98. The decision came 2 weeks later in the form of a 76 gas card. I don't know the CL since I haven't received my first billing statement nor have I bothered to call to find out. However, what I do find strange is that Union 76 has not shown up as a TL on my credit report. I did call CS to inquire about this and they said to write a letter. Well, I received the reply today and they stated that they "do not report credit info on current accts to TRW nor do we report credit ratings to any CRA automatically, we regret we are unable to honor your request." Has anybody else had a similar experience? If I would have known this before-hand, I would have applied for some other gas card (although I am partial to Union 76 as they remind me of the Dodger games I attended as a kid). Just a few other questions: Is Union 76 Platinum card different? Do they report to CRAs? Can I pressure Union 76 through phone calls or letters to report my credit activity? Thanks in advance for any suggestions! MisterX
BTW, Union 76 (showed up as TOSCO) pulled only TU. My TU score after the hard inquiry was 676. MisterX
I've had the card for about 6 months and it hasn't reported to any of the cra's. I don't care. Actually, if they report like Chevron and Cap1 showing no credit limit, it's better that they don't report.
Thanks for your input. I guess Union 76 is not such a great gas card if you're trying to re-build your credit and get a good credit mix. Do you know of any gas cards that are relatively easy to get with scores in the mid-600s for somebody who has a Ch7 BK going on 4 years (will be 5 years in Oct). I was approved for a JC Penny card, but Sears flat-out rejected my application because of BK. Target says I have to write back and provide additional info to confirm my credit history. Don't know if I want to go to so much trouble... Anyhow, I have 2 Cap1 cards myself. They don't show credit limits, but I charged them up pretty high at one point (about 90% of limit) and the high balance totals do show up on TL. What is the disadvantage of Cap1 not reporting the actual credit limit? How does this affect your score negatively? Also, do high balance totals have a positive effect on your score if actual credit limits are not reported? I have since paid down my Cap1 balances and currently use about 15% of my combined credit line. Thanks for any advice! MisterX
