Union Credit Card/Household

I just received an offer thru my Labor Union for a credit card with a 0% int for 6 months and then a fixed goto of 9.99%. In reading the fine print it is Household Bank as the issuer of the card. There is a special labor union web site for applications for union members.

I had not planned on applying for any new credit until early next year. I just opened 3 new cc accounts and I have 0% interest thru next April so I'm good right now in that respect.

This offer, though, is only good until 9/21/01. It is pretty tempting because the best goto rate I have on the others is 12.74%.

I'd love to receive this offer early next year but how likely is that? I've been with this same union for 22 yrs and have never received a cc offer like this that I can recall.

I suppose I could try to get it and then play the BT game with it to "exercise my credit" for a few months.

What do you all think? Should I go for it?

I have 3 hard inquiries on Equifax and 3 on Experian. None of TU.

There are two levels of household:
    1. Prime (to speak)

    and subprime.

This is an offer for their higher end product, and not to be confused with the standard household/orchard accounts.

If you qualify (good to excellent credit) then by all means.

    Mist,

Is this Household's UnionPlus card? Sounds like it.

If so, I have the card and I think it's pretty easy to get. The balance transfer offer you got was better than the one I received. Don't remember all of the details but it wasn't that low.

Anyway, I've only had this card since last January but no problems so far. If you apply, Household will probably pull Equifax. They always do for me.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

    Bkev,
I'm in New Jersey (southern) but it looks like they like Equifax.

If anyone reading this lives in S. NJ and has had an inquiry from Household please let me know if it was NOT Equifax.

    Thanks

I just re-read the terms (that darn fine print!). It IS a good offer but it's not fixed (what is, these days?).

Anyway it is Prime + 1.99 variable but never LESS than 9.99%.

The 0% for 6 months is on New Purchases only and does not apply to balance transfers.

There is nothing in the terms with respect to any balance transfer fees.

    BTW,
Thanks for the replies. I think I'll wait till the last few days of the offer and then I may apply.
