    Hi all,

I haven't seen this exact situation before and I'd appreciate some feedback:

I sent a validation letter to a local collection agency that was collecting a <$200 amount for my former bank.

They sent back fairly good documenation also CRRR. I think I have them for minor violations but nothing worth going to court over considering this is within the last 2 years and they have followed some of the rules. I have been building a case to try for payment for deleyion.

Meanwhile I had disputed with the one CRA that showed this account.

I hoped that I would catch them not reporting it as disputed when they 'verified.' Altho even that would be a little weak because they can continue to collect (I think) once they have validated to me.

Anyway - either they decided not to pursure this or didnt repond in time 'cuz it fell off the credit report after 30 days.

    1) Should I just hold tight and hope it doesn't reappear?

    2) Should I just send a check to the CA for the amount (even if the bank was scammy, I wouldn't mind paying a small amount to make sure it went away.) I'm afraid in this case the update to paid might put the whole mess on my CR again.

    3) Should I send a letter along with check to CA highlighting their mistakes and making a deal, of delete for payment?

I assumed this one would be harder, and am suddenly unsure what to do.

Or is there another approach that might be best? What do you think?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Ok right now DO NOT PAY!!.

See if reappears. or the CA contacts you. If they do then Send a pay for removal letter. Make sure its the one where they have to return it signed before you pay.

If you pay without it then they can relist the acct as a paid collection for another 7 yrs and good luck on getting it removed.

If I take that approach and it does reappear, do I send a pay for delete letter that's all nicey nice or do I list their violations along with pay for delete letter in a much stronger tone?

And yes - I'll wait for something in writing before sending.

So is sitting tight the best strategy now?

    Thanks,

    Tom
