I just realized that ATT Universal raised my rate last Sept. I know, it's sad that I just noticed this after 7 months. But, I do not use the card. I only have a BT for 3500 at 3.9 for life so I do not charge anything to get the most from the BT. I was at P+1.9 now I am at P+4.9. I searched and someone said that did it to over 2 million users. I call CSR and they could not give any specifics of why mine changed but was quick to tell me that he could not lower it. I have a 766 FICO. Overall utilization is 25%. Utilization on this acrd is 30%. I have no inquiries nor new CC's. I guess they do not like that I do not use the card often. I have had the card since 1995 and do not want to close it since it is my oldest account. Plus, until this I have had no complaints - my CL has climbed from 500 to over 10k and my rate had decreased from 19.9 to a little over 6. So, maybe I will do like George and 'sock drawer it'. I know I will not be using it though. Anyone know a CC's that have a go to rate under 8.9 fixed? I have that with MBNA. Thanks for letting me vent, Willis
Willis, Call Citibank "R" to get that rate back down. Tell them how disappointed you are with the "universal" (no pun intended - lol) rate increase and that your account in no way deserves that treatment. Tell them that your MBNA already has a decent rate of 8.9% and that you are pursuing other card offers with lower "go to" rates as well. But don't close the card, unless you really want to. If that's a no go, write the Exec Offices via www.planetfeedback.com as your next step, citing the name of the retention agent you spoke with. As far as other cards: Cap One Platinum offers 8.9% fixed. Chase offers 6.9% fixed, but you'll have to get this through their special dept. (see the thread below). AmEx Blue offers 7.9% fixed. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21337
Marci, Talked to 'R' last night and I got my old rate back - prime+1.9. The rep also extended my 3.9 for life BT offer. Now, I kind of wish I had a balance to transfer. Thanks a million for the number. I was shocked at how quick they answered the phone - did not have to go through a system. But, then I guess it is a direct line. Willis
