Have any of you had a secured AMEX Optima card turned into an unsecured AMEX Optima card? If so, what did they do with your funds in their American Express Centurion bank account? Did they allow you to keep them in there if you wanted to do so (earning a very decent 2.97% at the moment), or did they (1) require you to close the account and/or (2) reduce the interest rate on the savings account if you elected to keep your security deposit there?

I used to have a secured Optima about 5 years ago. I used it only for gas for 2 years. I paid the balance in full each month. After the 2 year anniversary I applied for the regular Optima Platinum and got approved. I subsequently closed the secured account and they refund the $$$ plus interest.

be careful, i had the secured optima since 99 and I have always paid ontime until 2 months ago, I was late 1 month and they automatically closed the account, I guess they need a reason to close my account and that was there reason. They did return my deposit plus interest. Have a nice day..
