I recieved the results of 2 items I disputed with Experian:1 was verified and 1 was removed...Changes in Scores from Last Week: FAKO 12/28/10: Experian: 637 TransUnion: 639 Equifax: 615 Equifax FICO: 538 FAKO 12/28/10: Experian: 642 (Up 3 Points) TransUnion: 639 Equifax: 635 (Up 20 Points) Equifax FICO: 559 (Up 21 Points) Experian is the only creditor that removed one listing - I'm not complaining; fairly happy; but that seems like a pretty big jump on the equifax part especially. Thoughts? Also - any idea on the approach with getting rid of the Cap 1, HSBC, and some of the others that look like they are scheduled to stay until 2016? Does anyone have any advice to offer on dealing when them? They've all been charged off....
Fluctuations of 15-20 points could be a result of several different things. Your credit utilization ratio, which accounts for a large chunk of your FICO score, can certainly fluctuate depending upon how much you're spending on your cards at any given time, when your credit issuer reports to the CRAs, and when you pull your score. It's also possible that since you're disputing this account with Equifax, the tradeline may not be included in the calculation of your FICO score until the dispute is resolved. Also, would you remind me what the situation is with the other charge offs? Are they all with CAs now?
Reported as Charge Off: Orchard/HSBC Capital One Credit One Bryant State Bank CorTrust Bank Target 1st Premier - Reporting as Collection/Charge off on TU and Experian but as 120 days late on Equifax Plains Commerce - Disputed w/Experian - came back verified - it's on there as Collection for TU and Experian but as Transferred/closed for Equifax w/0 balance CA'sJefferson Capital (although Vision Financial called me on this debt - they are not reporting yet, but JC is) - this is for a Salute Card that I disputed with the OC (Salute/Urban Trust) and Experian removed it. Does that mean I can get the CA to remove through disputing as well? LVNV - don't know what this is for - I can't tie it to any of the charge-offs National Credit Solutions - $132 for Columbia DVD - currently disputing w/TU and Exp - not reported on Equifax.Credit Systems Int'l - old utility bill from college - will fall off this May AFNI - only reported on TU - should fall off sooner than later b/c it's from 04 0 old sprint bill Is there any guidance on how to deal with the charge offs that are not yet assigned to CAs that are reporting? I doubt the OCs will do a PFD but it would help my score so much if I could get them removed.....
You should first try to make sure you know which debts have been charged off and sold to a CA and which have just been transferred for collection. If the OC has charged off the debt and sold it to a CA, they won't even want to talk to you or correspond if you write them. They'll just tell you to contact the CA, and they have every right to do that since the debt is no longer theirs and they are reporting it as a charge off. Now, if the debt has been transferred and the CA isn't reporting it yet as a collection, there's still a chance you might be able to convince the OC to pull your account back from collection in return for payment. If you're lucky, you might even be able to negotiate a PFD with the OC. That's tough these days and will just depend on the situation and the company you're working with.
I believe all the COs are with the OCs still. Yesterday, myFico EQ report was updated with an alert that my Cap 1 balance went up by $6. So - even though I called them and they ransferred me to a CA, the account is still with them! I would really like to just work with them directly and pray pray pray for a PFD, BUT I don't know what to do since when I call they transfer me I will likely have to take the same approach with HSBC. With the smaller, state banks in SD and sub prime cards, I am going to dispute the reporting first through the CRAs, but I am still picking through what they've reported and crafting my dispute letter. The COs are my primary focus right now since they'll last the longest on my report. I'm not going to focus much energy on the items that will fall off in 2011 or even 2012, although if I make enough headway in a short period of time, I will. That said, does anyone have a contact with Cap One that I may be able to work with directly? Anything helps!!!!! Thanks!
If Cap One immediately transfers you to a CA, that probably means they've just assigned your file to collection. Have you been able to speak with anyone at Cap One yet and request that your file be pulled back in return for payment? If so, what was their response? Sorry, but I don't have any special contact at Cap One to share with you. Call and ask for a supervisor right away.
