Hello all, There were several of you who were interested in the results of sending the request to the IRS Commissioner for the withdrawal of a notice of federal tax lien. I received a letter from someone in the Commissioner's office who indicated I would receive a response to my request within 30-45 days and gave me a direct number to call and a specific contact if I haven't heard from them within that time frame. As I've indicated before, for the first time I have some real hope of not having to pay them, then get them released and then wait another 7 years for them to be removed from the credit reports. (Since we all know a paid and released lien is almost as detrimental to the credit score as an unpaid one.) If all goes as I hope, the notices will be withdrawn, I will pay the liens in full, and since it will be like they were never filed in the first place, there will be nothing to release or to have removed from the CRAs. For anyone interested who didn't see the original info, it was posted on Bayhouse and here's a link to a thread in which it was discussed here. http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&postid=184878#post184878 I'll post again on this topic after I've heard from the IRS again. dempooches, Thank you for the update...I would be very interested in the outcome as I am trying to help a couple of members with this same exact problem. I had one small success with a lien that was improperly filed...just called and talked to the Specal Procedures person in the local district. These irs liens are toughies...so any successes should be loudly heralded here. Good luck & I can't wait to hear the ed result! clc
