I have good new and bad news to report.

Firstly, Citibank was not generous to me as far a apr reduction. Since I had the recent delinquencies added to my report in December 2000(ie the DMV tax lien), Citibank had actually increased my apr to 23%. Thus when I called, I was only able to get it reduced back to the 17% I had restarted with on my platinum select. They said they would review my account again in 4 months and if the item was removed my apr would not go back up to the 23%.

As far as Spiegel, they have been great. I havenot used the card at all yet. I got it in the fall. But I got my $1,000 increase in January. Not bad for having the card for just 4 months. So my limit with them is $1,400. I just might get something out of that catalog now. Well, thanks for listening.

BTW: I paid the DMV this week--$749.00 total. I will now just have to see about getting it off my report via disputes etc.
It is only on my transunion.

that is pretty crummy of citibank based on parking tickets. Maybe you want to consider closing the accounts?

    RE: Citibank

One huge advantage of Roni's Citibank cards is the very high credit limits. I believe her total is $18,000, or am I wrong about this?

Think about it. Where else is Roni going to get limits like that for the next few years? If she just uses the Citibank cards without carrying balances, then the stratospheric APR won't hurt her a bit.

Eventually, the whole ticket thing will blow over, and she'll be better off than ever. Her Trans Union report will look all right, and she'll be a long-time customer with Citibank. Closing her accounts now would retard the process of maturing the accounts

    RE: Spiegel

Thanks for sharing with us about Spiegel. I think it's a very useful card, especially for people with Internet access. And if nothing else, it can help a person's utilization ratio. :)

so citibank is pulling transunion for you?

I'm curious if they stick to one report always, or randomly choose?

I don't think Citibank pull a credit file when you ask APR reduction.Last week Citibank reduced my AAdvantage APR after I requested. My Qspace score dropped from 685 to 625 in one month because two new accounts were opened in last Dec.I know Qspace score is not Fico score.

I am not sure whether they do or not. I was just saying they do randomly pull reports and apparently checked on Roni and pulled her TU and raised her rate b/c of that darn parking ticket.

Do they notify you in writing when they raise your rates?

Yes they do notify you in writing. What happened w/ me is that I requested a $200 line increase and was denied. I had requested that my APR be lowered a few weeks prior to this and had no problems. Then I get a letter in the mail stating that they were raising my APR do to information contained on my Trans Union report. Boy was I HOT! But oh well.....

My TU reports looks way better now than it did when I requested the line increase so maybe I'll try again after my second round w/ Junum.

I never said they pulled my report when i applied for apr reduction. They had already pulled my report randomly for account review. Duh!
