Would like to know which ones people are currently getting for rebuilding purposes....most of the searches I come up with are several years old...

Rebuild what? The banks? Because that's what you're doing when you add more credit.

Thanks Glass, but I am trying to establish credit- I have none.

That's good! You're better off with none!

I disagree. While the credit scoring system isn't perfect, it's considered our personal reputation in the financial world. If you choose to ignore it or abuse it, it will affect more than just your ability to obtain a credit card.

Employers, landlords, insurance companies, cell phone providers, and many other businesses check your credit before determining how they will do business with you. Not existing in the credit scoring system will simply put you at a significant disadvantage in your personal financial life.

Why not learn the basics of credit, get a no annual fee card, pay your bill in full each month, and reap all the benefits that come from having a good credit score? It's not that difficult, and it will cost you nothing.

@Jil - retail and gas cards aren't as easy to come by or get approved for these days. I've heard that Target and Walmart still offer cards to those with subprime credit. Do you have a close relative or friend who would be willing to add you as an authorized user on their credit card in good standing. That will give you a significant boost right from the start.
