If you pay off an account and say 15-30 days later initiate a dispute with the CRAs that it is a Zero balance, shouldn't the OC confirm that with the CRA upon recieving the dispute? We have some paid off accounts that have come back that the balance was verified. It has been 30-45 days since they have been paid. If we ask the OC, they say we have to wait the 90+ days for them to update. I feel if their computer shows a $0 balance, when they are contacted with a dispute they should verify the zero balance immediately and I should not have to wait till they update. Am I just too impatient?
The OC can tell the CRA to update with new correct information. They are just being lazy and depending on their tape updates. You might tell the OC they are reporting inaccurate information, and you will sue if they do not correct. Make it worth their while. There is no reason to give the OC 90 days and hope it is corrected. They should have responded to the original CRA investigation with correct information within the original 30 day CRA investigation period. Since they "verified", they confirmed inaccurate information. It is their responsibility to fix it.
