I have a question on the best way to update a credit score. One of the main negative factors that has been killing my scores is the fact that I was $2000 over my credit limit on a CC and the card was 60+ days past due. Through an act of God, I was able to get the CC company to raise my limit so I'm no under the credit limit and also erase the 60 past due. They are faxing a letter to me stating that. We are shopping for mortgages and from what the CC company told me, the won't report the changes to the Credit Bureaus until the 1st of August. What is the best way to get this information updated? Should I file online disputes of this information with all 3 bureaus? Fax them a copy of this letter? Something else? Thanks for your help!
Fax a copy of the letter they send you to all three cra's. It shouldn't take too long for them to update.
Thanks for the reply. I'll fax the letter. Here is the letter they just faxed to me. I assume the bureaus will take this? Dear Mr & Mrs. Touchdown: You recently contacted XXX Bank regarding the history of your account. I have reviewed the above mentioned account and found that payment was late three months in a row this spring. After speaking with you both it was determined that the payments you sent were not recieved by XXX Bank. Stop payment was process on the (3) checks and telephone payment was made with me on 7-9-02. In addition, I have reviewed the statement information and previous payment history on your account. After review of the information I will remove (3) late history records from your account. The past due status on this account was not due to bank error, however, we value you both as credit card holders wiht our company and look forward to continued business with you. Sincerely, XXX Bank Unit Manager ********* Is that letter ok to fax to the bureaus? Thanks
