We pulled my hubby's credit report in May & JCPenney had shown 3 delinquencies for 2/01, 3/01, & 4/01.... & also that we were currently in an I-4 status with them, which were false. I wrote a letter to Penneys & showed proof of payments for each month from October 2000 to present. I got a letter from Penneys acknowleding that they had made errors in reporting our payment history got the letter on June 6, 2001). Well..today hubby got his updated credit report & the only thing that was changed was that they changed it to a present I-3 status instead of I-4...al the delinquencies for the months in question are still there. I even sent the 3 credit bureaus the letter Penneys had sent us stating that they had made mistakes on those months in 2001 & that we were current & sent payment history. What now?????? Does it take a while to show up or should I take this further??
I have seen the update process take 90 days for a CRA to update w/ new info from an OC or CA. It depends mostly on the method of update. Some use tape, which is updated quarterly or sometimes monthly. Others have other means, electronic or otherwise. What it boils down to is that you need to insist that JC Penny's fax a UDF to the credit bureau. There is an expedite procedure in place at the CRA. The CRA will not change info with a letter you supply to them from the creditor, or even your payment history proof. It must come on a UDF, with an account number, from the creditor.
I had a similar problem and got lightning fast response from two different OC's. I sent a certified letter to OC and called customer service and used PFB. Each time I mentioned the OC's DUTY to provide accurate information, then I mentioned that I was applying for a mortgage, and their negative information was making it impossible for me to close on the loan. They need a sense of urgency.
