For those of you that have upgraded/changed an existing Citibank account that you have, did the new account (with new acct. #) keep the same acct. history as the previous one? I am upgrading my regular Visa into a Platinum Select MC and want to make sure it keeps its 5-year history--it's my oldest tradeline. Thanks!
My info is really old, so things may be different now. I started with a Visa gold. I upgraded to a platinum probably 5 years ago. I don't remember if it was the same account number, but I know I retained the account history. There was only one tradeline on my reports for the account, dating back to 95, even though I upgraded I think in 96.
Thanks. I just spoke with a rep with Citi. She confirmed that if you are just upgrading an existing account, the history of the previous card is retained.
