I just got approved online for a Visa Signature card from US Bank. I then called them to ask them a question about this card, and found out that back in 1985 I had a card (about 1k) charged off with them.

    Does US Bank blacklist?

I had a Chase card while I was in college that was charged off. I would never apply again to them. They have to have a record of that delinquency somewhere. Common sense should tell you that.

"They" don't "have" to do anything but keep their records for auditing purposes. There could be a cutoff, say, ten years, where it does not make sense to archive/store old data.

I would not presume any policy or procedure for all companies.

In addition, if they do keep that information around "forever", what they do with it also varies.

I was surprised to find that Providian turned me down w/out checking my CR. I had a card w/them, no problems, no balance and I tried to keep it after my Ch7. They canceled it. I've never had any problems w/Providian, but quite obviously they REALLY don't like BK.

I had a Cap1 card that WAS included. They sent me an offer for an unsecured card within a year. Huh?

I never realized at the time that I had an account with them.

Your account may have been bought by US bank.

I believe the proper syntax is You're. And, gee, I must really be on your mind for you to take the time to formulate that response. I feel honored :)
