Anyone have any thoughts on them. I'm almost 18, and they sent me a preapproval for the platinum the other day, and I was thinking of applying when I turn 18. Any feedback is apprecaited. Thanks.

Go for it just watch how you use it. Treat it like money do not let your credit go bad.

Matty, unless your credit is in good shape I would pass on applying for it. It is simply a solicitation from a mass mailing list.

Ok, I'll prolly pass on it. What do you know about the company's reputation? Is it stable, as in more stable than providian? Wait, that's stupid, my savings account ($1500) is probably more stable than that company. hehe. Anyhow, if you know anything about them, share. Thanks!

They also seem to offer an array of services besides credit cards, like checking and savings accounts. I might open a savings account with them and then apply for a credit card in the future. That might look better to them.

Matty- they're a huge bank based in Minneapolis (the merger of First Bank, Firstar, and US Bank) plus they own Piper Jaffray investments. I think they're #10 or #11.

Quite reputable. They also seem to offer respectable rates and also offer the Northwest Worldperks Visa (plus a bunch of co-brands with grocery stores).

My partner has a company card that also gives him worldperks points, it's issued by US Bank. My only "concern" with US Bank is that they pull soft AR inquiries on his Equifax every other month- even though he never signed anything to get it- it was company issued. Strange, since the bill goes to the company and he never sees it or pays it (why do they care about his personal credit?)

If you don't need it - I wouldn't waste the inquiry. You've got a ton of new-ish accounts already, may be best to let 'em age for 9-12 months.

    Good luck,
    mj

Alright, sounds good. What would you have to say on getting a discover or amex card? Is it good to have that kind of diversity? (visa, mc, amex, discover)
