Anyone have any experience with USPS Automated Certified Mail? I had to send out about 20 CRRR today for a non-credit relted matter. Man was that a pain to prepare all of those. Anyway, when browsing on the site for postage required, I saw USPS Automated Certified Mail advertised. Anyone use this? Looks like it could be handy for those of us (who me?) who are in need to send out a lot of letters CRRR. You create and store templates...send your letters, request return receipt...can view signature online....sounds too cool. Here are a few points: Our Internet Solution can be reached through the U.S. Postal Service web site: US Postal Service Web Site This service is perfect for casual users who may need to send mail daily or a few times each month. NetPost Certified Mail is the exclusive Certified Mail engine powering the USPS.com website. USCertifiedLetters partnered with the United States Postal Service to add this new certified mail product to a suite of hybrid electronic services (correspondence that originates in electronic form and is delivered as physical mail) designed to save customers time and money, and to reaffirm the relevancy of hard-copy mail as well. Customers can create a letter and transmit the document electronically to the Postal Service. Certified Mail provides a mailing receipt and a record of delivery, both retained at the recipient's post office. A return receipt that provides the sender with proof of delivery can also be purchased for an additional fee. ============= Certified Mail Management System (CMMS) is our off-line software application that is a complete document management system. Certified Mail Management System (CMMS) is windows based software program that offers an easy to use off-line turnkey mail management solution. CMMS can be ideal for single users or high volume users of Certified Mail such as banks, collection agencies, and government agencies, to name a few. A customer can create single letters or any number of template letters that will import your documents from any popular Windows application. This process can be described in seven easy steps: The customer downloads the CMMS software, located on the NetPost Certified Mail website to your local computer. The customer imports their name and address list to use for processing along with the letter to be printed. With CMMS along with our Web Site, you have Rich Text Letter Creation. This means all popular fonts are available to the user. The document is sent in a secure electronic transfer to the Mail Processing Facility. The Mail Processing Facility prints, folds and applies postage using our patented pending forms and technology. If your mail is received by 12:00 PM EST on the days the US Postal Service is open, the letter will be processed the same day. If mail is received after the stated time, the mail will be processed the following business day. Enterprise clients will have mailing terms set forth in their agreements. The letter is delivered by a USPS employee and signed by the recipient. Delivery confirmation is available electronically giving the customer proof of delivery into the mail stream. Also, electronic return receipt is available as well as the traditional physical green cards being returned for proof of delivery.
Somebody here used it once and had complaints. If I remember correctly, I don't think you can fit much text on it.
I've used it a few times and have had mixed results. Once, it took them almost a week to send out the letters I had created online. It is slightly cheaper than the post office rate, as well. My suggestion- don't use it if you have any "time sensitive" material going out.
I have been using them for quite some time and have no complaints. The biggest advantage is that I no longer have to use return receipt as proof of delivery as it is posted online. My local post office had a nasty habit of loosing those green slips anyway so I ended up paying for nothing. USPS used to have quite useful but complicated software that allowed to send letters in adobe/word format . Lately I was not able to use it and had to go to their website that only accepts notepad format. The disadvantage is not being able to include signature.
How is there proof of delivery without a return receipt? Where does it show it? Also there's no signature. Wouldn't a judge be wanting a signature?
