i have a ca in florida that is trying to collect a debt from me for a balance due ($79). the cra's have verified the debt with them.

here's the kicker. i paid this debt in december of 2002! i have proof also. i sent paperwork showing it was paid and the only thing i got back from equisux and tu were letters talking about credit repair agencies!

should i send an its to the ca? if so, what section do i quote?

    thanks!

make that 2. my wife has a dentist bill that is almost paid up to the oc (signed letter from the oc that all negative tradelines will be deleted) and still being listed by the ca.

can i hold the oc to anything?

    thanks

i would send a pr letter to cra if they have verified the account as yours (did you dispute 'not mine'?)

i don't think i would run around telling anyone you 'paid' the collection... a paid collection is really no different than an unpaid collection (unless you are trying to get a loan right this minute and need the ca to reflect paid status) however, in the grand scheme of things... paid collections blow.

so i would push for the 'not mine...prove it' deletion first and foremost. have you sent a validation letter to ca? i mean i realize that you have disputed with cra's but.... they have a different process they use when determinig whether or not a debt is legit...
