Alex, A poster named "Ron" posted this direct line to Bank of America's retention department several weeks ago. This is the number I called to ask for a BT rate of "prime for the life of the transfer", which they readily offered me the day after my intro rate expired. Prime is now 4.75% per BofA. 1- 800-858-0561 I hope this helps if regular customer service does not help you...
George, please explain AGAIN George, I know you have explained this before, but I still don't understand...on my VISA Plat. statement, the BTs are shown at the low rate, purchases at the purchase rate...although I know that the oldest is paid off first, and the purchases will sit there at the higher rate for some time, my BTs are large amounts, and I only have a small amount of purchases going on this card. BTW, I requested a purchase APR rate decrease from around 18% a few weeks ago, (had a 9.9 BT for life on there) and when I got the statement, they had my BT at the 12.9 new purchase rate...when I called them, they offered me the 9.9 back, but would put the purchase APR rate back up, OR, they offered me a variable prime for life for what was left on that BTand the lower purchase rate. I took the prime rate...I'll take the chance of prime going up to 12.9...I can always transfer. Anyway, I then transferred again on the NEW 5% offer...now have two BTs at 5% or under. Or, according to your statement above, is that not correct? I will keep working on getting that purchase rate down to prime.
Re: George, please explain AGAIN MOST cards pay the LOWEST FIRST...so say you use the card to buy CHRISTMAS PRESENTS for $2,000 and then get a 4.75% BT for $8,000... You make a payment of $300...it goes to the LOWEST FIRST...so you pay NOTHING towards the $2,000 @ 14-16% ??? It just sits there for many months or years... Always start with $0.00... I have cards that MUST be paid in full every month... I have other cards I use only for BT'S...
Re: George, please explain AGAIN Marci.. Thanks for the phone number, I will give it a try.. However my Amex Blue doesn't show on my files yet so I would keep the balance there for now.. The account was opened a year ago. I saw some threads about Amex using a new reporting system, so as soon as it reports, I may try to utilize BofA BT.
