Hubby just got turned over to a collection agency. He thought a account had been paid off but I guess not. Anyway, I have no problem paying but really don't want it on his credit report. he showed me the original receipt and nothing was signed but the tool guy would show up at their shop and get a payment every week. Hubby was laid off and never heard from him again but probably does owe. There is absolutely no proof so I sent a validation letter to the C.A. I got the green card today showing that they signed for it on the 8th. I also got a new bill from them dated the 8th saying that I had not disputed within 30 days and they are demanding payment in 10 days. I think it is quite a coincidence that they sent me the second notice on the exact same day they got my validation letter. Do I just wait the 30 days and see if they validate or should I do something now? This is all so new to me. Thanks for your help. Kim
How are they going to validate when you say they have no proof? Wait out out the 30 days. You all ready have them on one violation. Give them a chance to screw up again.
The letter they sent you was dated the 8th, but what date was the envelope postmarked? If after the 8th you do have a violation there. It could be a coincidence that the letter was dated the 8th. When did you receive the 1st letter from them?
