I am going to send a few validation letters today. My questions are: I found out one of the collection agencies that I am sending validation to is not licensed in my state. 1. should I communicate this information in my first validation request? 2. I have located contact names at each collection agency, should I address the validation letters with a name or just address the collection agency in general? A) does the providing the contact name upfront provide any advantage? Any advice is greatly appreciated. SuzyQ
I'll comment on #1. Yes communicate this to the CA. But also send proof that they aren't licensed. Contact the appropriate state agency and ask if a certificate or letter can be obtained verifying that the CA isn't licensed. I bet an official document from a state agency saying they are not licensed gets them off your back.
Killer thanks for the reply. I thought I should use that as ammo in the initial communication, but I didn't want to come on too strong. Anyone have suggestions as far as their experiences with using a contact name in addressing validation for the first time? TIA
