I got a letter from a CA today with my original validation letter AND evelope back. They enclosed a note saying they need by SS# they can't locate the account. What do I do? Isn't it there responsibility since THEY are reporting it on MY credit report? I don't know what I should do.
After 30 days, try sending the estoppel letter. If they fail to verify, then they are in violation of FDCPA..this looks like a stall tactic (like CRA we need you to prove who you are). Or they can not find your record....
Do not send them your SSN. They are asking you to validate this debt!!! They have to validate, not you. They must think you are an idiot, LOL!! Send them the estoppel letter - they failed to validate, and, not only that, they sent you a letter telling you they failed to validate!! Keep that letter.
