validation letter for a charge off

There is a charge off on my experian report, due to come off in 2-2002. It has not been updated since August 1999. It shows a past due balance of $515.

For several reasons I would like that past due amount to be zero. I called the credit card company and was connected to their collection division. They gave me the charge off date, and charge off amount, which match the info on Experian. The credit card company knew nothing of a past due balance.

I asked them if they would send a statement of the current state of the acct. Charge off date, amount, etc. But they said no, they don't do that. They sent me one letter 7 years ago and that's all they send out.

Is there a way that I can compel them to send me what I need (the fact that there was a charge off, but no past due balance)?

To make matters worse I have received several letters from the dreaded Arrow Financial about this account. Upon receipt of the first letter I immediately asked them to validate the debt...never heard back, but I have all of my backup (certified receipt, etc).

Anyway are there any thoughts on getting a letter out of the credit card company. BTW the credit card company is the only one listed on the bureaus regarding this debt.

I have also initiated an investigation of this issue through experian.

    Thanks,

What is so dreaded about Arrow Financial? Last time I heard anything out of Arrow Financial, I was the one THEY dreaded. Not the other way around.

So how long ago was that? Sounds like it was far too long ago the way you speak about it.

What for? You need the statement out of Arrow, not the CC company if they turned it over to Arrow. That's what's taking ARROW so long to get back to you most likely.
So don't *****foot around with them. Stomp on em.

Well, if Arrow can't get anything out of them then how do the CRAs verify it? That's an interesting question and you should be demanding to know the answer.

Seems like you need to learn how to deal with these people from a position of strength. Your post makes it sound like you got all the muscle you need, just learn how to use it effectively.
