    When sending in your VOD to the O/C or CA do you guys include the account # and O/C name if applicable? Just wondering if you find it better NOT to include ANY info other then your name/address and make the CA "look" for your file.

    Thanks, I know I read somewhere on this baord that people were not including certain info like the account number so the CA would have to do more work to locate what acount your talking about. Anybody have success using this method?

    Another question, What about locating a CA that is on your CR but they (CA) have not listed ANY contact info? There is no city, state, PH just the name of the CA nothing more. Any ideas on to locate them to send them your VOD letter? Thanks in advance

    You could contact the CRA and ask them for the contact information for the particular CA you're referring to. I *believe* there is something in the FCRA that requires the CRA's to disclose this information, otherwise how could a consumer ever dispute something in their file?

    This from the FCRA. I was looking for something along the same lines, but that does not require any investigation beforehand. Maybe someone can points us to what I'm thinking about.

    § 611. Procedure in case of disputed accuracy [15 U.S.C. § 1681i]

    (6) Notice of results of reinvestigation.

    (A) In general. A consumer reporting agency shall provide written notice to a consumer of the results of a reinvestigation under this subsection not later than 5 business days after the completion of the reinvestigation, by mail or, if authorized by the consumer for that purpose, by other means available to the agency.

    (B) Contents. As part of, or in addition to, the notice under subparagraph (A), a consumer reporting agency shall provide to a consumer in writing before the expiration of the 5-day period referred to in subparagraph (A)

    (i) a statement that the reinvestigation is completed;

    (ii) a consumer report that is based upon the consumer's file as that file is revised as a result of the reinvestigation;

    (iii) a notice that, if requested by the consumer, a description of the procedure used to determine the accuracy and completeness of the information shall be provided to the consumer by the agency, including the business name and address of any furnisher of information contacted in connection with such information and the telephone number of such furnisher, if reasonably available;

    I would have to agree that the CRA would HAVE to give us the info because without the state,city ph etc.. we have no way to get the info to dispute the listing. A very nice way for CA to report info and make the customer (us) do the leg work to find out where they are to dispute or validate any of the info they placed on our reports. Anybody else had this problem or have any solutions? Thanks in advance.

    I am also looking for an answer to this. I have a check that bounced in 97. I paid it, also in 97. It never ever showed up on my report until this month. It does show as paid. It shows the original creditor, but under Creditor name, it is blank. Date opened is 1/97, but date reported is 6/02. I had my credit report from June, and it was not on there. How do you ask someone to validate it, if you have no idea who it is? Should I just dispute this as not mine with the CRA? I know it is mine, though.

    Another way to find contact info(for any business) is the Better Business Bureau www.bbb.com. I've found most of my contact info this way.

    Thanks for the link. You can use the BBB website it will not owrk all the time but it is a step in the right direction. I guess if you cant find the info at the BBB then the next step would be the CRA. Has anyone tired to get info like this from a CRA? If so any luck? Thanks in advance

    ===========

    Get a law passed requiring a CA and all other reporters to furnish complete contact Info.to the CRA or they can't report the item.
    Enact a law that prohibits a CRA from posting information on a report without including complete contact information for the reporter.
    Establish a $1000 fine if violated.

    EX has the name and address on your report. Send the letter to that address. I don't usually send in account info. Let them work for it, and maybe you'll get a lazy CSR that won't attempt to validate. Charlie
