    Hello everyone,
I recently received a CR from EQ containing a charge-off account that is not mine. My question is this: Do I send the CA a validation letter or do I send EQ a dispute letter stating that the account is not mine? Can anyone help?

    Thanks.

Both. Send the CA a validation letter Certified Return Receipt Requested. Then at the same time (or wait a week or so until you get the receipt if you want to try and build a few violations on the CA for use later in a suit) send Equifax the dispute letter stating the reason "not mine". Better still, dispute it online so you KNOW the dispute will be processesed (I had Equifax ignore a couple snail mail disputes).

    Good Luck.
