    Hi all

I see most validation letters are written in regards to Collection Agencys. Are there any out there that are in reference to the original creditor? I have a few charge offs listed on my CRs from the original creditors. I thought I would initiate some contact with them in form of a validation letter. lol
One more question...What are the chances of them validating something 6 months to a year old...(since the charge off that is)
Thanks in advance for any feedback
    Cheers!

I have modified the text of the validation letter and sent it to original creditors with about 50% success. Keep in mind nothing requires an original creditor to validate under the FDCPA, at least not that I can see.

It will depend on the creditor what the chances are - generally the older the account is since inception, the more difficult it will be for them.

Is the original creditor bothering you? If not, then I would let a sleeping dog lie. While they're sleeping (hehe) I would dispute with the CRA in hope that the disputes will not wake them and the account will be deleted :p

    Just my 2 cents...

That sounds like a good idea, I will do just that....and wait for the CA's letters. Thanks for the info...you too Hal!
