Does a CA have to validate for a paid collection?
I sent out a validation request several weeks ago for a paid collection and haven't heard anything back. Are they required validate? Are they in violation if they dont? Also, do they have to put that I dispute this acct on the CRA's. I just wasn't sure if they had to do all this if it was already paid (and showing paid collection on my reports)
    Thanks!

I paid this off over a year ago before I knew about this site and others. I didnt know enough to ask for validation, etc then. I want them to prove that I owed this money. Are they still obligated to do this? I'm not sure. If they are, then they havent responded to me. I disputed the TL after they got the letter, so we will see what happens...

You can try the Nutcase letter.

how much have you researched the sites? i can't say for sure, but it seems that since you have paid them, it may be a done deal, you didn't negotiate settlement or derog. removal with them at the time. you may be able to send them a goodwill letter asking for the derog. to be removed though. do a search for goodwill letters. tell them that you paid them in a timely manner 100% of the money due and as a gesture of goodwill would they remove the derog. notation. also send the CRA's a letter where they would have to validate the derog. good luck!
