I sent a validation letter to a CA that was collecting for a doctor. Medical services were rendered in 10/99 on my newborn daughter. I did not know at the time that the dr. who performed the procedure did not accept my insurance (BCBS of FL). It was only after I got home and received the bill and the billing office refused to bill my insurance because the surgeon only accepted about 3 types of insurance.

Anyway, I got a response Sat. from the validation letter sent. It states:

Per your request, enclosed is a copy of the information regarding the above referenced account.

Contact this office immediately with any questions, or to arrange for payment in full of this debt.

All correspondence and payments should be sent to our address as provided below. (I sent the val. letter to the street address not the p.o. box).

Please return this letter or use the account number on all mail and payments.

Attached on the next page is a print out from the Dr.'s office.

It lists the patient as "baby girl xxxx"

It has my name, address and incorrect phone#

There is no ssn# or birthdate or any types of signature. Only a bal due $184 and some other info.

It is written on there "2/4/00 - stated she's a single mom can't afford to pay, no ins.???"

Which is not true, I have never even spoken to these people and I am married now anyway.

Do I ignore this letter it was sent reg. mail, wait 30 days and then send the estoppel letter?

This doesn't sound like an adequate validtion to me. It sounds as if they printed the information from their computer. I would send the estoppel letter as they have provided no valid proof of this debt.

How Can A Dr. refuse to Accept an insurance payment? ????

What right does he have to beat you out of the Insurance claim?

What exactly is an 'estoppel letter'? I looked in the example letters, but didn't see one named 'estoppel'.
