This is a follow-up on a question that I originally posted here: http://consumers.creditnet.com/straighttalk/board/showthread.php?s=&threadid=46028 Based on your excellent input, my friend mailed a CRRR validation letter late April to the CA [Coporate Recoveries.] The letter is here: http://fermi.netfirms.com/letter.gif Yesterday, we got back a mail from the CA, which included the following 3 pages: Page1: http://fermi.netfirms.com/page1.gif Page 2: http://fermi.netfirms.com/page2.gif Page 3: http://fermi.netfirms.com/page3.gif We felt that their response can not be considered a validation because they did not: 1. Provide any doc that proves my friend owed the OC any money. [No contract with my friend's signature shown.] 2. Provide any doc that authorizes the CA to collect the debt. 3. Answer any questions listed in the Creditor Disclosure Statement Are they violating anything here? Should we dispute the account with the CRA as not mine and be done with it? Or wait until late May and send another V.L to the CA. Please advice. Thanks - Fermi PS: I have also read HumbleMarc's awesome post, but it does not apply to us 100%.
"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" What Is Validation? http://consumers.creditnet.com/stra...ht= validation
Send the re-validation immediately... Reason, if they say that they've complied, they can begin collection activities immediately... They need to be told almost immediately that they did not provide the complete documentation requested. I learned this the hard way, when a company I requested complete historical documentation from presented 3 pages, and served a civil action notice before I had time to draft a dispute of their validation. They were a no-show, but still it's better to hit them before they have the chance to hit you... or your friend...

Hey Fermi, I tried to check out your letters. The link returns the following pop; Directly downloading images is not permitted on the Netfirms FREE plan. If you are the owner of this site, either ensure that this image is embedded in a web page, or upgrade to one of the Netfirms premium plans.
Butch, In his original quote, right click on the address of the gif file, and select save link as (or save link target as) and save the files to your hard drive to look at them. Worked for me. ChrisB
Firstly, I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of you who have read and replied. Thanks - Fermi
Thanks jam237 for the info. I looked through the sample letters here but do not know for sure which letter to use for re-validation. I am wondering if there is a sample letter ready to use or I need to compose one myself ? Thanks - Fermi
Thanks lbrown59. I'm probably a little bit slow on this so could you kindly spell out exactly what I should do. Thanks - Fermi
Thanks Butch for checking out my post. It probably depends on the ISP as it should work just by clicking on the url. Any way, chrisb already figured out a work-around. Thanks chrisb. Thanks - Fermi
Re: Re: validation question On a related note, does anyone know according to SOL in WA, how long can a derog stay in one's credit report? For example, given this tradeline, when do you think it will come off ? Collection Agency Account Information: -------------------------------------- Collection Reported 03/03; Assigned 05/02 to Corporate Recoveries Inc (206)-xxx-xxxx Client â?? King County Housing; Amount - $44; Unpaid; Balance - $69 Date of Last Activity 06/98; Individual Account; Account Number 1234567890 Thanks - Fermi
Re: Re: validation question Click the blue link below in my signsture beside the green validation words.
Re: Re: Re: validation question SOL for credit reporting is different from the SOL for collecting on an account. It should fall off your CR 7 yrs from DOLA 6/2005. That is, if you do nothing to try and speed the process ~
Re: Re: validation question Date of Last Activity 06/98; Individual Account; Account Number 1234567890 fermiw ========= If it's 7 years and 6/98 is correct it would fall off 6/05 Is 6/98 correct according to your records? THE END ** *** ** LB 59
Re: Re: Re: Re: validation question Thanks jlynn. We would like to speed up the process, of course. It's just that we are too new to this and are learning. By the way, I have read a lot of your posts as well as others and they're very helpful. Thanks - Fermi
Re: Re: Re: validation question Thanks lbrown59. I am doing this for a close friend of mine. He does not keep a single record about this at all. He was young when living in the project with his sibblings. When he moved out, he was not aware of the debt. As indicated on page 3 in the mail here: http://fermi.netfirms.com/page3.gif The debt was due to the vacate maintenance charges after my friend had left. Anyway, we just wish that we could pay 100 bucks and get it over with but it seems that the CA won't remove the derog even if we pay. We understand that it may cost more than the balance of the debt [about $70] to fight for this [mailing cost + your time + my time] but we are determined to get the derog removed. The issue now is how and that's why we are here. Thanks for listening and helping. You guys have been great. - Fermi
