Quick question folks: I sent in my first validation letter on a FirstUSA chargeoff to the OCA postmarked on 6-28, and they signed the card on July 1st. Is the thirty day period up July 28th or the 31st? Also I am planning on waiting for the time to expire, and if it does with no response I will be sending a disupte to all 3 CRA's. A recent credit report from this week has experian showing it in dispute, but equifax does not. Is that a violation that I could take action against? I only have this one and another MBNA chargeoff to get rid of, then I'll be back in the 700 club. The MBNA letter was sent on July 10th and received on the 11th of this month as well. Am I doing the right thing atm by waiting on their response, or should I be doing something else, both debts are two years old and one year "written offs". Thanks for all the great advise in advance, you all rock. Justin
Oh, and not showing it in dispute IS an actionable offense. My reccomendation is that once the OCs have had your validation requests for 10 days, send disputes to the CRAs. The OCs *cannot* respond to a request for verification until they answer your validation request. If they respond with improper validation or none at all and then verify with the CRAs, then you have additional violations to pursue.
Ok, then when I get home, I will send disputes to all 3 CRA's since it's been a while. Thanks for the info. Justin
