I have an entry on my EQX from Collectech stating that I owe them $367 for a collections account. Now this item stated that it had been verified in 11/2001 by the CRA and CA. I know this is not true, because I paid Verizon, the original creditor, 1/2 of the amount owed back in 9/2001. I have a statement from Verizon supporting that fact. I am paying Verizon the second portion and this item remains on my credit file... obviously these people have no idea what going on... Do I have to send a Validation or a C & D. I want to remove that entry entirely, I dont want it to remain as a paid collection or otherwise... I never paid them anything. Do I have some ground to stand on?
Send them a validation letter. I did, and they removed their tradeline. They didn't respond, but they removed their tradeline.
