A friend of mine told me that after completing a balance transfer online with a certain credit card company, he recieved a phone call (supposedly) from a representative of the company asking him to verify account numbers, amounts transferred and other personal information. Is this standard protocol for a credit card company to do this. Isn't it a bit risky to divulge such information to someone on the phone? Appreciate your replies. He's kind of worried.
THEY CAN CALL TO CONFIRM "LIMITED" INFORMATION...but I would NEVER give the complete account numbers (to or from) or SS# or much else... I WOULD SAY CITIBANK ABOUT $2,300 (if it was $2,318...$2,300 IS CLOSE ENOUGH) YOU COULD ALWAYS GET AN 800# WITH AN EXTENTION # TO CALL THEM BACK...your eating BREAKFAST--LUNCH--DINNER---YOUR WERE ASLEEP
Re: Re: Verifying balance transfer????????? How would they have known he made a balance transfer then lb?
