    Hi everyone,
I am new here, I never paid attention to credit reports, but recently I received one and it showed verizon putting a collection agency against me almost 4 years ago, or I guess showing that I closed the account, but that it was through a collection agency. I remember that I paid the bill in full, and that was in 2006.
I called verizon, but the lady told me she cannot take the charge off? she gave me a number for a collection agency called AFNI, and asked me to contact them.
Now I got my report through transunion, and it doesn't mention the collection agency name, so I am not sure whether Afni ir responsible for this.

What can I do? isn't verzion responsbiel for this, can I file a lawsuit against them?

    Hope to hear comments soon.

    Thanks.

Are you saying that AFNI isn't reporting anything yet on your credit reports? Even if they're not, you'll probably still need to deal directly with them if Verizon has charged off your account and sold it. While Verizon doesn't need to remove the charge off, you may be able to negotiate a settlement with AFNI and include an agreement to not report the collection.

Now, if you have proof that this isn't a valid debt and you paid the account in full, I would begin by disputing it through all the CRAs. Dispute in writing, include your documentation, and await their responses before deciding how to move forward.

That's right, disputing with the C.B.'s is the 1st thing. What kind of documentation do you have to show the debt has been paid?
