Hello all. I've lurked here for a while and have now decided to post. I'm hoping that someone will be able to give me advice about this situation.

The other day a charge-off showed up on PG from Verizon Wireless in the amt of 600, thereby, dropping my PG score down approximately 30 pts. It's only showing under the Exp column so far. I haven't been able to pull the true FICO from CRAs due to lack of $$. This is a valid debt that we have been unable to pay so far.

I want to pay this and I really want this off my report. How hard are they to work with on getting this off my report if I offer to pay them in full? Would they be willing to take it off or not? How exactly do I go about doing this?

I thought there were examples of those types of letters in one of the stickys on top of the board, but I haven't been able to find them. I can't seem to find them with the search feature either.

Anyone have advice on how to proceed with this?

I had an account on my TU that was re-aged. I just simply wrote a letter to Verizon saying that...they deleted it, without even replying.

Since then, Allied Interstate and RMA are collecting on the SAME account....Just filed against Allied yesterday in federal court.....seems Verizon recalled the account from them SEVERAL months ago..OOOPs lol

    Try the letter approach.

If it does go to a collection agency, CALL Verizon and ask when they sent it out and to who. They have a co policy that they ONLY LEAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH A CERTAIN COLLECTION AGENCY for 6 months, then recall it.

I had an account that I payed apparently as they were sending it to collections. I explained to them that I had moved, informed them of my new address and had never received a bill. They were not very understanding. But I challenged it with the bureaus and it came right off.

The part about them assigning it to a CA for 6 months then recalling it, does that apply to returned checks?

Thanks for the reply. I guess the letter route is the way to go.
