when i lived in hawaii, got a cell phone with verizon. i know darn well i signed up for the 1 yr. plan. when we moved to va. we had the number switched. my contract is suppose to be up 5-17. i called to confirm the exact date as i want to quit the service. i was told that no, i am on a 2 year contract. i requested some documentation on this, because i know when i called to get a new va. #, i was told that it didn't affect my contract length at all. so far, no documentation. i did apply online for the phone, but they must have some kinda hard copy. is there some kind of form letter i can send to them demanding proof of my contract length? and within a certain # of days. thanks

I don't have an answer for you, but my girlfriend sells cell phones and her sister has verizon, and they did that to her, too. Apparently this is their MO. And anytime they do ANYTHING for you, they try to use that as a means to renew your contract. Her phone broke and it was under warranty, so they sent her a new phone and renewed her contract for another year. There's actually some sort of class action suit i think that's going against them. I could be wrong though.

If there isn't a class action, there should be. I added two additional lines with the understanding that the new lines would be on two year contracts but they also put the first line on a two year contract at the same time. When I got the first line, it was a one year deal and the one year was over.

I worked for verizon wireless in one of their call centers and trust me if you press the 9 key to many times verizon will update your contract. Call customer services and ask them exactly when your contract was extended. If they say they cant ask them what program they are using ie. CMIS, I2K, vision. These programs keep all the notes on the account for a long time and never purge. The rep will then give you the exact date. If that doesn't work escalate it as high as you can the president if you have to (people do it all the time). A lot of times people write to the home office in ATL.

this is what i was told today: we sent you a confirmation 30 days after you rec'd your phone, if you didn't send the confirmation back, that meant that you wanted a 2 yr. contract. uh, what? ok, so basically you duped me. that is a bunch of sneaky *hit. it's $175 to cancel the rest of the contract. who can you trust?
