I've had a credit card account with my credit union for almost 3 years. They sold the accounts to another financial firm called Elan. The new firm sucks ass, they're totally incompetant. The problem is this, it's listed on my credit reports as a new account. The bank treated it as a balance transfer. My score dropped 50 points. I had 36 months as my newest account before this, and now it's down to 4 months. Do I have any recourse?
Is the TL reporting as Negative or postive? Is Elan a debt collector that the account was sold to? Did your CU sell their CC accounts to Elan and now you have two TL for the same account.; one for CU and one for Elan, with Elan showing a more recent opening date. A little more info might help sort things out. : )~ If you are just trying to get Elan to change the opening date of the "new" account ,perhaps you can go the Goodwill route and ask them to report the Tl with the opening date which the CU reported with. If the account is a charge off and recently purchased as bad debt by Elan, then it is an entirely different matter. 3day
