I sent a validation letter to a ca this month and they have not responded. The first week after they received my validation letter, they removed the tradeline off all reports. HOWEVER, this week they have re-inserted the information, giving it a first reported date of 03/2002. They also changed the open date to 07/1997 (it was previously reported as 01/1997) thus re-aging the tradeline. I know the re-aging part is a violation, but is the re-reporting of the information during validation also a violation?
Absolutely! I hope you have physical proof that the tradeline was removed and then reinserted It is my opinion that this proof will substantiate collection activity.
Yes, I have proof- both experian and equifax reports. I have tried to avoid lawsuits- but this was just TOO MUCH. I am infuriated and ready to take these guys OUT.
This is common practice with certain CA's. They'll change the account number, thus giving you duplicate collection accounts on your report. Or they'll do exatly what they did with you, (deleting one account, creating another collection account with a different account number) As the previous poster said, be sure to keep all correspondence (if any) from them, all credit reports, green cards, envelopes, etc.
Yeah, I know its not uncommon-I was just SOOO infuriated when I actually figured it out- which happened to be at the same time I was writing my last post. Still angry- but not screaming OMG!!
We need to take them all out. The way to do that is to refuse to get involved with the shysters who treat us like dirt.
