Hello everyone, Back in 2000 i applied for a visa credit card through Providian, and I was approved. then after a year they closed my account at their request. This was the period when they were going through financial trouble and that the decision was not based on my payment history just that they were evaluating accounts and making risk judgments on them. It shows on my credit "account closed at creditors request", can I have that removed from my report now by sending a letter or do I have to wait the 7 years for it to be removed automatically.
Try planetfeedback, or send a nice letter to the Office of The President Providian Financial 201 Mission Street San Francisco, CA 94105 (415) 543-0404 If it was truly closed by them, then they have to make the change. Be nice to them, and let them know it's effecting your chances to get additional credit. Was the account in good standing, no late pays, and balance of 0?
If the acct is in good standing, but closed by the creditor, is there any documented proof that it negatively affects your FICO scores by having that notation on there? Or is it just an eyesore?
I have a couple of these on my report for Citi and Fusa. I have never been able to get them removed over 3 years of trying. You will have better luck trying for complete account removal if you dont need the history. They dont seem to be affecting my Fico, its just the OC's way of sticking it in your eye for making an honest effort to do buisness with them. BTW, if the account has no other neg. notations, its 10 yearsand not 7. Nice of 'em huh?
