If the ca was reporting it, you could use their failure to validate to try and get it deleted. But it will not work the creditor. Just dispute it with the cra's. A lot of people have had charge offs with MBNA deleted. In fact, DaveLV just had 1 deleted from MBNA.

So then, how does one get the original account deleted or at least marked as paid? NCO owns the account yet will not respond to communications, MBNA is the one reporting and they are showing it as an unpaid chargeoff, yet will not discuss the account. Seems to me that a person in this situation is tough out of luck! Can someone tell me different?

Then your screwed..unless you can dispute it off.

I've never tried this but some individuals say to send MBNA a restricted endorsement check to their pay center..where they may accidently cash it.

    Anybody out there do this???

    No one is screwed!!

If you delete it properly, it will come off eventually. Just how old is this account? If it is few years old or better, it shouldnt be hard to remove. The collector and the creditor must report true and accurate information as stated under the FCRA and the FDCPA. The creditor is just as liable for reporting true information. Send them a letter asking for a contract with your signature on it. If it was an internet transaction, ask for the static IP address of the computer that processed the deal, along with all personal information. Make them prove it. I had Sears, Discover, JC Penny, BP and Providian accounts removed this way...
